SOS Child Phone Association, specialised in reporting child abuse and violence between minors, through the phone for physical and psychic abuse, and through the internet for paedophilia and paedophile criminality, asks for cooperation to file reports on the INTERNET, through the reciprocal exchange of possible information searching the authors of these crimes.
The association does not take any action against offenders, but sends data and information to the authorities in order to hand the persecutor or offender to police custody.
SOS Child Phone Association - A phone line against violence...
An association of volunteers is present at Chiasso (Switzerland), since 1988, arising from the need to protect children from any form of violence: S.O.S. Child. Recognised at cantonal level by the Department of Social Activities, it works seriously to protect minors. S.O.S. Child actually has three antennas coordinated by FEDERICO MARI. The work of volunteers follows many guidelines. At first managing a phone line to receive reports of abuse. S.O.S. Child provides assistance with three phone numbers corresponding to the three operational centres.
Twenty shift workers, mainly women, answer the phone 24 /24 hours seven days a week from the three centres. The association is not directly dealing with emergencies, it triggers a mechanism of action, reliable and tactful, mainly checking the personal data of the person calling, and the context of described situation.
Then contacts take several directions: cantonal social services are involved, as well as the Delegate for victims protection and abuse prevention, the guardianship delegation, schools, the juvenile magistrate and others, according to the seriousness of the case reported with the phone call.
S.O.S. Child promotes initiatives aimed at overcoming established taboos, disseminating the children rights ratified by the UN General Assembly. Specifically: the right to be protected from persecutions and exploitation and to grow up in a spirit of understanding and international solidarity. The presence with stands and information material on occasion of public events. Information in the schools of the Canton, mainly among youth at secondary school.
A task requiring an adequate training acquired during the training period. Volunteers in fact have to attend workshops and preparatory courses concerning several aspects of the subject: self-knowledge (which helps to find motivation), capability to listen and decode received messages. Before making the experience on site, a volunteer already trained is involved in an internship helping him during the activity. Most important is the external cooperation of experts: free-lances who offer for free their legal psychological and medical assistance ...Each centre has to invest in permanent training of shift workers, organising multidisciplinary theme evenings taking into consideration their demands.
